How Boca House Handles Sober LivingSubstance abuse, whether it be from alcohol or drugs, has a negative impact on the lives of addicts and their loved ones. Our goal is to provide assistance for our residents as they embrace a life of recovery and attempt to function independently. Boca House provides focused quality living environments for men rebuilding self-esteem, health, spiritual well-being, and careers. Rules are put in place to prevent residents from resorting back to old habits. Every measure is taken to ensure that sober living is the priority going in and the result upon their exit. All the men are expected to:
- Remain free of harmful substances (drugs/alcohol)
- Be gainfully employed or in school
- Must be represented by an AA or NA sponsor
- Attend meetings regularly
- Embrace the community atmosphere of men in recovery
- Refrain from any dangerous or aggressive behavior
- Refrain from smoking in apartments
- Be respectful to others
- Maintain a clean atmosphere
- Submit to urine tests
- Abide by the curfew
The idea behind these rules is that the residents following them will be able to develop responsibility and more accountability for their actions. Life after addiction is not without its share of hurdles to leap. It’s important that the recovery process is embraced with the right mindset and that can only come from discipline and strength. The community atmosphere helps to show men that they aren’t alone in their struggle and that they have a support system of men who have walked a similar path and desire to end up in the same destination. They understand the truth that alcohol moderation and drug avoidance is the only way to live a normal life. They also understand the enormous amount of strength it will take daily not to use or have more to drink than they should.
